A forgettable steak.
I was in Palm Springs for a weekend golf outing with a number of friends. Sullivans was recommended by one of the guys for their "Award Winning" steak which, IMO, was not.
The service was excellent as was the whole ambiance. We were seated in a private room, there was 12 of us, which was richly decorated. The wine list was not extensive but adequate. I vascillated on ordering the Chilean Sea Bass cooked Hong Kong style and the Cajun Rib-eye. I decided on the latter thinking about the award winning steak. I should have chosen the Sea Bass.
I ordered the steak medium with the asparagus and Horseradish Mash Potatoes, both sides were excellent. My rib-eye was served and it was blackened with a nice crust. The edges were cooked to perfection, at least the way I like it, but the insides were raw; not rare but raw. I asked the waitress to take the steak away, noting that the rest of the members of our group were already finished with their meals so I declined her offer to "re-cook" it. My meal was ruined already and I regretted not ordering the Chilean Sea Bass, which my friend who did order said was excellent.
I've eaten at a lot of Steak Houses over the years and this one was not, IMO, award winning.
Culinary Nirvana. Up until the time my wife and I dined at Sullivan's I thought we had to go to Las Vegas for an excellent steak. I ordered the filet and my wife ordered the swordfish. I can honestly say I have never had better. Having a meal that good and listening to some live jazz, well does it get any better than this? I don't think so. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Palm Desert as we did, I promise you won't want to leave the place.Sullivan's is just that good.
Simply the Best. Great setting, impeccable service, the best steaks in the desert.
