Okay. Bad day?. China Gate wasn't aggressively bad, but we were disappointed. Especially after reading the good reviews here and choosing to go. The first things we noticed were the lack of Asians actually eating in the restaurant, no chopsticks anywhere, and a bottle of ketchup on the table. All bad signs. The tea was very thin, and the food was just okay. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, I dont know.. but the "spicy" kung pao beef was hardly that. I recommend not ordering the combos ($12-16 per person). I saw some other people with much larger portions that looked much tastier than what we ordered. Those are $7.95per dish at dinner, $6.95per dish at lunch. The service was excellent though. No complaints there at all.

Lifetime loyal customer--literally. My parents first took me to China Gate when they first opened--I was not quite a year old. We have been returning over the last 27 years, not as often as we used to, but it's still the best. I've since lived all over the state and can say with pride China Gate is still my favorite Chinese restaurant. The hot and sour soup here just does it for me--I have yet to find one better elsewhere. The dishes are simple and sometimes a tad greasy, but hey, it's amazing. Out of the hundreds of times I've been here, I've not once ever had a bad experience. I recommend the paper-wrapped chicken appetizer, the mu shu, anything with chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. You really can't go wrong. I've been here alone and with groups of 20; they're very accommodating.

The Best. I have been to China Gate For the past 18 years and I have to say that there is no better chinese food out there. Even in China, they cant compare to China Gate. It is a very personable place. Try It, you'll like it!!!

China Gate. My daughter's favorite place to eat-she loves #50 on the menu. Alot of food, served elegantly on linen, even though it definitely is a family place. The menu is varied, exotic and also family oriented. A great place to introduce your children to Chinese food.
